Completing the Search for Carbon Ore in Dune: Awakening

Carbon plays a vital role in various essential items in Dune: Awakening. It becomes important early in the game, making it essential to know where to find and how to gather it. As you progress and start crafting more advanced equipment, you’ll notice that many items require a significant amount of Carbon Ore.

Additionally, Carbon Ore is classified as an advanced resource, which means you must complete a few steps before you can effectively harvest it. If you want to learn more about locating and obtaining Carbon Ore, keep reading.

Finding Carbon Ore

The good news is that you can find Carbon quite early in the game, allowing you to create better gear in the beginning sections of the MMO. However, as mentioned, you’ll need to go through some steps first.

To get started, you’ll need to research and create the Cutteray Mk2. This tool costs about five Intel Points, making it relatively affordable. If you already have the Cutteray schematic, ensure you have the necessary materials to build it.

You’ll need at least ten Iron Ingots and seven EMF Generators.

Note on Crafting

Remember, you can’t craft the Cutteray directly from the Crafting menu. After researching it, you’ll find the option to create it in your Fabricator at your base.

After obtaining the Cutteray, you need to be in the area where Carbon is located. There are Carbon piles dispersed throughout the Eastern Vermillius Gap, but for a higher concentration, head northeast into Hagga Rift.

In this region, Carbon piles are quite abundant, but they won’t be found in wide-open spaces. The best places to search for them are at the bases of large rock structures and on cliffs. Look for stones that are covered with gray and white crystals to identify Carbon piles.

Once you locate a pile, you can interact with the rock just like with any other resource and break it down.

Alternative Method

If you don’t have the Cutteray Mk2, you can still gather Carbon Ore. Instead of chopping the stone pile, you can simply pick up Carbon Ore from beside any large Carbon pile.

What you collect directly from the rock will be Carbon Ore, and there’s no need for refinement.
