Understanding Relics in Elden Ring Nightreign
In Elden Ring Nightreign, relics play a vital role, making the game feel like a roguelike experience. To level up and advance each night, you need to commit to hunting and gathering as many relics as possible.
However, figuring out what relics do and how to equip them can be a bit daunting initially. With so much information available, we’ve simplified everything so you can quickly grasp how to master these important items.
What Are Relics?
Relics are equipable items that enhance your character before you embark on a night hunt. Once you enter a session, you can’t change your relics, but you can modify your choices upon returning from your adventures.
When equipped, relics can provide up to three unique effects. These effects vary widely, and except under specific situations, most of them are randomly generated when you acquire a relic.
Levels of Relics
There are three levels of relics:
- Delicate: One effect
- Polished: Two effects
- Grand: Three effects
As you can see, the level of a relic determines how many effects it provides. The higher the level, the more benefits you can gain.
Relic Colors
Each relic can have one of four colors. Importantly, the colors do not influence the bonuses your character receives; they are solely for equipping purposes. Each character has a chalice that determines which color relics they can use and how many.
Unique Relics Explained
While relic effects are randomly drawn, there are unique relics with consistent effects. Most of these fall into three categories:
- Remembrance Relics
- Nightlord Relics
- Jar-Bought Relics
We’ll list some notable Remembrance and Nightlord relics below:
Relic | Color | Effect |
---|---|---|
Night Of The Baron | Blue | 1. Improves critical hits by +1. 2. Critical hits moderately fill the Ultimate Art gauge. 3. Increases stamina recovery speeds. |
Night Of The Beast | Green | 1. Successful attacks recover stamina by +1. 2. Starting weapons deal fire damage. |
Night Of The Champion | Green | 1. Increases maximum stamina. 2. Boosts guard counters based on current HP. 3. Restores HP with thrusting counterattacks. |
Night Of The Demon | Red | 1. Purchases during hunts cost less. 2. The "Crossed Legs" gesture builds madness. 3. Madness regenerates FP continuously. |
Night Of The Fathom | Red | 1. Increases maximum HP. 2. Drinking flasks heals allies. 3. Item effects apply to allies. |
How to Acquire More Relics
You can collect relics by participating in your hunts against the Nightlords or purchasing them at the Small Jar Bazaar. The bazaar offers the unique Scenic Flatstone, which allows you to randomly generate new relics.
When you finish a hunt, whether you defeat your Nightlord or fall in battle, you will receive multiple relics. The quantity and rarity of these relics depend on:
- Your progress and the strength of the enemies you defeat.
- First-time completions of Nightlord encounters always grant a unique relic.
If you find yourself with surplus relics, you can sell them at the altar from the relics menu.
Changing Chalices and Equipping Relics
Chalices can be acquired in two ways:
- Purchased from the Small Jar Bazaar.
- Received as rewards for completing Remembrance quests.
Progress in the game allows the Small Jar Bazaar to offer more items, including chalices after you defeat Tricephalos.
To equip new relics or change chalices, visit the designated relic altar in Roundtable Hold. Here, you can choose a Nightfarer and switch between chalices or equip new relics.
Important Note
You can have relics stored in chalices that aren’t currently active. However, only one chalice is functional at a time; you must select which will be active during your hunt.
