One of the key character customization options in Elden Ring Nightreign is the ability to equip and combine relics. These relics are small, common items that you will acquire after most adventures; even if you meet an untimely end, you’re likely to return with a few relics. While the relics you find may seem somewhat random, you collect enough that it hardly matters. You’ll soon gather plenty that suit your playstyle as a Nightfarer.
You can combine relics at Roundtable Hold, where you can equip various combinations for each character and save your preferred setups. Initially, each character can utilize only a specific blend of colors—typically one relic of one color and two of another. However, as you progress in the game, you will unlock new relic configurations for each of the eight characters, allowing for more creative combinations. Here’s how to unlock and utilize these new setups.
Unlocking New Relic Loadouts for Each Class
Acquiring New Urns
In short, defeating bosses is the only way to unlock new relic loadouts in Nightreign. You can receive vessels as rewards for taking down bosses or purchase them at the Small Jar Bazaar—loot may vary greatly from one player to another. I personally got my initial few vessels at the shop after defeating Tricephalos. If you’re struggling with your current relic setup, consider switching characters and embarking on a few quests to discover a more suitable combination.
If all else fails for your specific color scheme, you can buy some relics at the Small Jar Bazaar. Be sure to snag the Besmirched Frame as soon as it’s available. If the Bazaar doesn’t offer any appealing relics, you can also purchase a Scenic Flatstone for 600 Murk, which will spawn a random relic—though its usefulness may vary.
Switching Between Different Relic Loadouts
Utilizing Relic Rites
To switch between your various relic loadouts, head back to Roundtable Hold and interact with the Relic Rites table (shown above). This will bring up a menu where you can see all your relics and assign them to different characters. Press RB/RT to scroll through your unlocked Nightfarers, use the D-pad to navigate, and press A/X to select relics for each spot. By pressing down on the D-pad, you can view your available color combinations; choose one and press A/X to switch to it.
You can only switch relics at Roundtable Hold; once you set off on an expedition, your loadout is fixed. Be sure to regularly update your relics for all characters to stay prepared.
You can equip the same relic across multiple characters or loadouts simultaneously. It’s also worth mentioning that you can save your favorite relic combinations and quickly switch between them from within the relic menu. Once you find a setup that works well for you, just press RS/R3 to save it as a preset. You can access this menu of presets any time you’re using the Relic Rites table, allowing you to adapt to the unique requirements of each expedition.
Now you’re equipped with the knowledge you need to start exploring relics. Since you can’t predict which weapons, items, or talismans you’ll get on each run, it’s crucial to make the most out of the character customization options available. Relics are among the most vital items in Elden Ring Nightreign.
