The newest set of Magic: The Gathering Commander preconstructed decks is almost here, and this guide focuses on the Avengers Assemble deck. The main commanders from the four new decks have already been leaked, and this one looks to be the most aggressive of the bunch.
If you enjoy playing with big creatures and adding lots of +1/+1 counters, this deck is a great fit. Here’s what we know so far, including the deck list and gameplay strategies.
Avengers Assemble Deck List
We only have three confirmed cards for the Avengers Assemble Commander precon so far, with hints of a fourth from the packaging. The full deck list is expected to be revealed in early to mid-June, but some cards might leak before that.
| Card Name | Card Type |
|---|---|
| Captain America, Team Leader | Creature |
| Sol Ring | Artifact |
| Arcane Signet | Artifact |
The possible fourth card is Nick Fury, who appears on the packaging along with Captain America. In sets featuring universes beyond, these spots usually represent the deck’s main Commander, as seen with the Wakanda Forever and Fantastic Four decks in this set.
Commander Breakdown
So far, the only Commander card revealed is Captain America, Team Leader. This is a 3-mana 3/3 creature that activates when another Hero enters play. It grants the new Hero Vigilance and Haste until end of turn and gives both the Hero and itself a +1/+1 counter.
This card is straightforward but might seem a little simple. Since the deck aims to be aggressive, the Commander’s simplicity works well. Its low cost allows you to cast it early, and every Hero played afterward makes your board stronger. You can attack sooner and with more power.
Strategy
The deck packaging states it will rely heavily on equipment and counters. Expect to use these to boost your creatures’ power and toughness while protecting them from removal spells.
Additionally, the deck suggests a focus on equipment and counters, which usually indicates a creature-rich approach. If the deck isn’t packed with creatures, it will likely generate creature tokens—just as useful—and these tokens can also be equipped with gear to strengthen your forces.
