One of PS5’s major exclusive titles is receiving a free update that will introduce new challenges, items, and additional content.
Team Ninja’s recently launched Nioh 3, which debuted in February, is already getting a substantial free update. On their official blog, the developers expressed appreciation to fans for their support and announced that this update will be released on April 27, 2026.
The blog post states, “We want to thank the many players around the world who have taken the time to enjoy Nioh 3 since its release. We’re actively working on future updates and downloadable content for the game.”
This update will feature “multiple high-difficulty Battle Scrolls,” serving as optional side missions within the game. It will also include several new elements such as:
– The Stone of Penance, which boosts accessory values and rarities, but only at higher difficulty levels.
– New skills awarded for completing selected high-difficulty Battle Scroll missions.
– Balance tweaks aimed at enhancing some of the game’s Graces.
In addition, Nioh 3 will soon receive paid DLC expansions, with the first arriving in September 2026 and another planned for February 2027.
Nioh 3 is an action RPG that marks the third chapter in Team Ninja’s acclaimed series. The storyline picks up after the events of the previous titles, starring Tokugawa Takechiyo, the grandson of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Like its predecessors, the game centers around battling yokai and other supernatural enemies.
The initial two Nioh titles were highly successful for Team Ninja. Nioh 2, released in 2020, is a prequel to the original. As of last year, the entire Nioh series has sold over 8 million copies worldwide.
