ALBAWABA – Justice Finally Served: Conviction of Kim Kardashian’s Robbers
A French court has reached a significant verdict regarding the armed robbery of American reality star Kim Kardashian, who was held at gunpoint in 2016. The robbers made off with her engagement ring valued at $4 million, along with various personal belongings.
Ten individuals were arrested in connection with this audacious theft that took place in Paris. The high-profile celebrity was restrained by assailants posing as police officers, complete with ski masks, as they pilfered the ring gifted to her by her ex-husband, rapper Kanye West, now known as Ye.
Earlier this month, Kardashian traveled to Paris to provide testimony, during which she shared her harrowing experience and her belief that she was about to lose her life.
An additional defendant faced charges related to illegal weapons possession, while a judicial panel of mixed gender found eight of the ten defendants guilty of crimes associated with the robbery. One individual was acquitted.
Aomar Ait Khedache, the 69-year-old mastermind behind the heist, received a three-year prison sentence. The sentences handed down to the five direct participants were among the most severe possible under the law.
Kardashian’s legal team announced that she accepted the court’s verdict. In a statement, she expressed gratitude towards French authorities for their commitment to achieving justice, recalling the traumatic incident as one of the most terrifying moments of her life, with lasting repercussions for her and her family. "Although I will never forget what happened, I believe in the power of healing and growth," she said, adding, "I pray for healing for all."
During her court appearance, Kardashian revealed that she is capable of forgiving Khedache, who had sent her a letter seeking forgiveness.
