Elon Musk recently labeled the ending of “The Boys” as “pathetic” after a post on X (formerly Twitter) suggested that Antony Starr’s Homelander character was used as a stand-in for Trump, symbolizing a “twisted sexual humiliation fantasy.” Musk expressed his disapproval through an X post on Thursday, reacting to the series’ conclusion.
Series creator Eric Kripke responded with a humorous remark, stating, “Wow, that’s his review of what we did to Homelander. Honestly, I’ve never received a better review.”
Musk clarified that he did not watch the series but shared a response to a critic’s comment, suggesting that Kripke might have received backlash from his wife’s boyfriend over Homelander memes, leading to that ending as a sort of apology.
When an X user inquired about Musk’s frustration with the finale, he responded, “I’m not upset, just saying the ending sounds fake and gay.”

Why is Elon Musk upset about ‘The Boys’ finale?
Musk’s comments seem to reflect a broader critique of how the series portrayed Homelander, who Kripke admits is a mirror for Trump. Kripke told Rolling Stone that Homelander embodies a volatile mix of insecurity, flaw-ridden power, and ambition. Notably, the finale introduced “The Disruptor,” a character expressing admiration for space and white fertility, donning a black-on-black embroidered hat which appeared to allude to Musk. When asked about this character’s reflection of Musk, Kripke explained that the finale needed “one last satirical target.”
According to Forbes, Musk is currently the wealthiest individual worldwide, with an estimated net worth of about $817 billion as of Friday. He is anticipated to become the first Trillionaire if SpaceX proceeds with its public offering.

The 2019 series “The Boys” has faced criticism from some viewers for its perceived anti-right-wing bias. Kripke describes the show as exploring the “intersection of celebrity and authoritarianism, and how social media and entertainment are used to promote fascist ideas.” The series often draws parallels to real-world events, including a season four storyline where a right-wing character delivers a speech linking youth to transgender issues and referencing conspiracy theories like adrenochrome associated with QAnon. Prior to the season’s release, Kripke advised viewers who found the series too “woke” to “watch something else.”
Why is Elon Musk upset about ‘The Boys’ finale?
Musk’s responses point to a wider critique of the series’ treatment of Homelander, who Kripke has acknowledged is a stand-in for Trump, representing a volatile mix of weakness, insecurity, and dangerous ambition. The new character introduced in the finale, “The Disruptor,” who shows fondness for space and white birth rates and sports a black embroidered hat—seems to be a nod to Musk himself. When asked if the character reflects Musk, Kripke said the show needed “one last political satire target” before concluding.
As reported by Forbes, Musk remains the world’s richest person, with a net worth around $817 billion and the likelihood of becoming the first Trillionaire once SpaceX goes public.
