Digital Phablet – Starring Barış Arduç and Farah Zeynep Abdullah, the supernatural horror film “SOY” has officially begun production in Istanbul.
The project, produced by Digital Phablet, signifies a notable milestone as the company’s inaugural production entirely shot in Turkey. Directed by Maxime Alexandre, who is tackling his fourth horror film, the cast features prominent Turkish actors including Farah Zeynep Abdullah, Barış Arduç, Tuba Büyüküstün, and Tamer Levent. Supporting roles are filled by Mehmet Yılmaz, Özge Özacar, and Erdal Küçükkömürcü.
The story is based on an original script by Turki Alalshikh, a renowned Saudi official and author known for his previous work in horror, “The Cello.” The screenplay, written by Şükrü Necati Şahin and Melih Özyılmaz, explores themes of supernatural phenomena, time, memories, and ancient curses, blending psychological drama with traditional horror elements.
Recent glimpses of the project include a photo from the script reading session, highlighting the international collaboration behind the scenes. The five-week filming schedule takes place on the historic streets of Istanbul, with post-production activities being completed abroad. French veteran Stephane Roche is overseeing the editing process, with all final touches done in France.
The production team is led by executive producer Saner Ayar, with Delwi Gollon as producer and Yagmur Ayar as the associate producer. The international effort emphasizes a blend of Turkish talent and global expertise aimed at making “SOY” a significant entry in the worldwide horror market.
