Google appears to be making strides in boosting click-through rates (CTR) from organic search results that feature AI Overviews. Recent reports indicate that after a period of decline, CTRs are on the upswing.
The lowest point recorded was in July 2025, with a CTR of approximately 0.57%. By February 2026, the CTR has increased to around 2.4%. However, the latest chart suggests that in July, the CTR was about 1.8%, so the exact figures may vary.
Here’s the latest data from Digital Phablet: After tracking a decline in CTR for queries with AI Overviews for over 18 months, there was an unexpected reversal early in 2026. The organic CTR for these queries rose from a low of 1.3% in December 2025 to 2.4% in February 2026. The upward trend didn’t just stabilize; it gained momentum, moving closer to the January 2025 CTR of 3.2%, compared to the December 2025 low.
Clarification on these fluctuations has been sought, with some figures showing differing dates and percentages. Discussions on social media have reflected this recovery, with some noting the significant increase in CTRs based on extensive impression data—that is, roughly 2 billion impressions analyzed during the study. In one discussion, it was highlighted that the CTR for AI Overview queries has rebounded from its lowest point, indicating a positive shift in organic search performance.
Forum conversations continue to analyze this trend, revealing that the rise in CTRs could be a sign of improved user engagement with AI-generated search snippets.
