Several technology companies showcased their latest robotic innovations at CES 2026, emphasizing both practical and emotional companionship roles. Among the newcomers, Ludens AI stole attention with the introduction of two friendly, companion-oriented robots—Cocomo and Inu.
Cocomo is designed as an autonomous “robot pet” capable of moving around the home and engaging with users through voice and touch interactions. Equipped with wheels, the robot can follow its owner seamlessly. During the expo, the prototype sported a vibrant orange outfit adorned with ear-like decorations, enhancing its approachable appearance. The outer shell of Cocomo mimics human body temperature—around 37 degrees Celsius—to avoid the cold touch typically associated with robots. When touched, its temperature can rise slightly, reaching about 39 degrees Celsius, providing a warmer, more human-like contact. Instead of speaking, Cocomo communicates through gentle humming and other sounds, making interactions feel more pet-like and less robotic. Ludens AI emphasized that Cocomo is intended to build emotional bonds over time, learning what brings joy, comfort, or surprise to its owner through subtle, adaptive behaviors.
Inu, another creation from Ludens AI, is described as a “desktop alien puppy” designed for use in office or desk environments. Compact and adorable, Inu responds to sounds and touches, wagging its small tail or blinking to express emotions. The robot fosters a playful and engaging presence, supporting interaction via voice and movement, aiming to keep users company during work or study sessions.
Overall, these robots reflect a growing trend toward blending technology with emotional intelligence, aiming to serve as empathetic companions beside users in daily life. Ludens AI’s innovations underscore the evolving landscape of personal robotics, with an emphasis on warmth, connection, and companionship.
