In addition to the Apple Watch Series 8 and a new Apple Watch SE, Apple is launching a rugged smartwatch called the Apple Watch Pro 2022 later this year, and the latest speculation provides some clues as to what the watch will be called.
Gurman, who previously covered the extreme sports edition of the Apple Watch, believes the device will be treated like Apple’s iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and AirPods. Screen, performance, camera, and price are typically improved with Pro branding.
In the latest issue of his “Power On” newsletter, Gurman claims the Apple Watch “Pro” will have a larger, more shatter-resistant screen, a rugged case that is not aluminum, and longer battery life. As well as improved swim tracking, it will also include hiking features.
Despite Gurman’s suggestions for Apple Watch Max, Apple Watch Extreme, and Apple Watch Explorer Edition as possible names for the rugged Apple Watch – codenamed N199 internally – he believes the company will go with Apple Watch Pro instead.

Ross Young (Display Supply Chain Consultants) predicted a 50mm screen size in July, indicating the new Apple Watch would be 5mm larger than the biggest Apple Watch 7. It will be almost 2 inches long.
As of now, Apple produces watches in 41mm and 45mm sizes, which are the largest it has ever made. Invicta and Citizen have larger wristwatches than the third option, which would be around 50mm.
Watches designed for extreme sports enthusiasts may have a metal that is more durable than aluminum, a shatter-resistant screen, and higher water resistance than aluminum.
According to rumors, the larger screen will measure 50mm (almost 2in), which is 7 percent larger than the largest current Apple Watch. According to Gurman, Apple could display more fitness metrics or information on watch faces using the larger screen area.
Battery
There’s a possibility that Apple’s new larger watch will have a longer-lasting battery, which is one of the perks. There is an 18-hour battery life rating on the current Apple Watch.
The new Series 8 models are likely to receive a low-power mode exclusive to watchOS 9.
Processor
There is no difference between the S7 chip in the Apple Watch Series 7 and the S6 chip in the Apple Watch Series 6. We are rumored to be talking about the Apple Watch Pro, which is rumored to have the same chip as the S7.
According to Mark Gurman, “All new Apple Watch models will feature the S8, which would have the same performance as last year’s S7 chip in the Apple Watch Series 7.”
Apple Watch Pro 2022 Release Date

In his newsletter, Gurman also said the Apple Watch Series 8 will feature an improved display, a body temperature sensor, and the S8 chip, which will be the same as the S7 and S6 chips. It’s reported that the Series 8 Apple Watch SE won’t have a body temperature sensor but will use the same S8 chip.
Apple Watch Pro Could Be As Expensive As iPhone 13 Pro
Apple Watch Pro will join MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone Pro, and AirPods Pro in Apple’s product portfolio of pro models. According to Gurman, that is similar to the pitch for the current iPhone 13 Pro over the regular iPhone 13.
He points out wryly that adding the Pro suffix means different things to different people, but one thing remains consistent: the price will always go up with it.
It is possible that Apple may retire the Watch Edition after the rugged model is announced, given the fact that the Watch Edition hasn’t been a huge success. The new watch would be significantly more expensive than the standard stainless steel model he had previously said would be available.
As of now, the 45mm Apple Watch Edition starts at $849, so the rugged model may start closer to $900 or $999, the starting price of the iPhone 13 Pro, which is the second most expensive iPhone so far.
There is no confirmation yet, but Apple Watch Pro makes total sense, so we can assume it is accurate.
