Today marks the release of Halide for iPhone 16, featuring enhanced Camera Control options designed to simplify what can often be a cluttered interface. The developers behind Halide are committed to creating an experience with their app’s Camera Control features that is as straightforward and practical as traditional shutter buttons found on dedicated cameras.

Halide Camera Control

Since the debut of the iPhone 16, Halide has included Camera Control functionality. Users can now easily launch the app via the Camera Control button, which also serves as a shutter button once activated within the app.

With today’s update, Halide introduces advanced focus and exposure controls through the Camera Control button. Additionally, a new locked control feature has been added to prevent unintended adjustments from accidental swipes when using the button.

Some users may prefer not to have their manual settings changed inadvertently, which is why we have introduced the ‘Locked’ Adjustment. This feature keeps your settings secure during accidental swiping. For exposure, users now have an exposure bias that is three times greater than Apple’s standard (-/+ 6 EV compared to 2), and the manual focus option provides a smooth focusing experience using the Camera Control.

Capture Photos Faster

In addition, Halide version 2.17 enhances photo capture speed. The updated application allows users to take photos instantly upon pressing the button rather than waiting until it is released.

This quick capture feature pairs perfectly with the iPhone 16 Pro’s new 48MP ProRAW Zero Shutter Lag functionality, offering a seamless way to snap images. It also integrates flawlessly with our Process Zero, allowing for natural 12 MP photo capture with minimal processing and no AI enhancements.

You can download Halide 2.17 from the App Store to explore the new Camera Control features. The Halide team has also published an extensive review of the new iPhone 16 camera and its capabilities here.
