Now You Can Spot Coronavirus Affected Areas in Google Maps App

2020 is the year where you can’t go out without the fear of being infected. Google has made your life easier by adding the COVID-19 layer, which helps you spot Coronavirus affected areas in Google Maps app before you travel.

How to check Coronavirus Affected Areas in Google Maps?

  • Open Google Maps app
  • On the upper-right corner, tap on Layer button
  • Select “COVID-19 info”

The app will show the data based on the 7-day average of cases per 100,000 from the areas around you based on the color. The color code means.

  • Grey: <1 case
  • Yellow: 1 to 10 cases
  • Orange: 10 to 20 cases
  • Dark orange: 20 to 30 cases
  • Red: 30 to 40 cases
  • Dark red: Over 40 cases

Google has further clarified that they have been using the data from the New York Times, Wikipedia, and John Hopkin University to show the average data. The data is accurate as it comes directly from Hospitals, Government Agencies, and the World Health Organization (WHO).

This is slowly rolling out for all the users all around the world, if you haven’t got this feature yet, then you might have to wait a bit to get it. Google first integrates the data given by the countries to show the results with the help of Artificial Intelligence that is using the real-time data.
