Meta’s messaging app, WhatsApp, has rolled out a new update just in time for the New Year, adding 2026-themed stickers. The update features interactive effects for video calls, message reactions, and a new sticker pack for status updates, all designed to enhance your celebration experience and foster more creative ways to connect.
A notable addition is the special Lottie sticker, available in both group chats and individual conversations, bringing a festive vibe to chats. Users can now embed the 2026 sticker within their status updates, using photos or videos to mark the upcoming year transition.
The update also introduces new video call effects, such as fireworks, confetti, and star animations, which can be activated during calls by tapping the effects icon. With WhatsApp handling approximately 100 billion messages and two billion calls each day, this is the platform’s first effort to include festive stickers that make chats more visually engaging.
Additionally, WhatsApp offers tips for smoother New Year’s planning within group chats, allowing users to create and pin events at the top of the chat window so everyone stays informed and coordinated.
According to the company, these new features aim to keep friends and family connected wherever they are, making it easier to celebrate together and stay close through the holiday season.
