Trailers
The announcement trailer is currently the only footage available for Turok: Origins. It kicks off with a CGI sequence featuring various Turok characters hunting dinosaurs in a jungle, employing a blend of conventional and futuristic weapons. The sequence culminates with a massive alien vessel appearing in the sky before transitioning to actual gameplay.
In an interview with the PlayStation Blog, game director Jesus Iglesias shed light on how Turok: Origins will integrate with the established lore. “Turok: Origins fits seamlessly into the Turok universe as the legendary Turok Warriors unite to save humanity from a hostile alien species and looming destruction. As the narrative unfolds, players will uncover ancient secrets linked to the Order of the Turok and its historical significance.”
The concept of Turok has always revolved around a mantle that is passed down, which serves as a coherent method to expand the story. However, its timing in the timeline, the identity of this alien species, and the means through which the Turok Warriors are assembled remain to be revealed.
Gameplay
For the first time, Turok: Origins will transition the series from a first-person shooter to a third-person perspective. This change is attributed to Saber Interactive's expertise with third-person titles, providing a revitalized experience for the franchise. This update allows for solo or cooperative play. Although the trailer features three Turok characters, it remains unclear how many players can join forces.
Players can expect a variety of weapons, including melee options and special abilities, alongside an arsenal of firearms ranging from bows and sniper rifles to advanced ray guns and plasma rifles. An upgrade system will enable players to collect enemy DNA as a resource for enhancements.
