In the thrilling trailer for Havoc, Tom Hardy dives into the seedy depths of the criminal underworld in Gareth Evans’ latest action film.
Hardy portrays Walker, a seasoned detective tasked with probing a grisly massacre in Chinatown linked to a botched drug transaction. As the investigation unfolds, Walker discovers that the primary suspect is Charlie (played by Justin Cornwell), the estranged son of Mayor Lawrence Beaumont (Forest Whitaker). The mayor pressures Walker to recover Charlie, threatening to expose the detective’s questionable practices if he fails. “You won’t escape this city alive without my assistance,” Walker warns Charlie as they scheme together to flee.
As Walker becomes more involved in protecting Charlie, he attracts a host of adversaries: a corrupt politician, a powerful crime syndicate, and even some of his own colleagues. For Walker, the path forward seems to lead only to violence, with the fiery trailer hinting at several intense and gory action sequences.
Havoc also features performances from Jessie Mei Li, Quelin Sepulveda, Luis Guzmán, Michelle Waterson, Sunny Pang, Jim Caesar, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Yeo Yann Yann, and Timothy Olyphant.

Gareth Evans not only directs but also writes Havoc, which began production in July 2021. Although filming wrapped by October 2021, reshoots were postponed until July 2024 due to the Hollywood strikes, adding to the project’s delays. Evans partners with Hardy, Ed Talfan, and Aram Tertzakian as producers.
Renowned for his work in the action genre, Evans has created three celebrated Indonesian thrillers: 2009’s Merantau, 2011’s The Raid, and 2014’s The Raid 2, all praised for their exceptional technical execution. Havoc marks Evans’ first directorial effort since 2018’s Apostle.
Netflix is set to premiere Havoc on April 25, 2025.
