Lost in Cult Launches New Physical Game Label: Editions
Lost in Cult, a video game design studio, has unveiled an exciting new imprint called Editions. This label aims to offer “prestige” versions of cherished games, complete with original box art, 40-page booklets, and various additional goodies.
Best known for its Design Works book series focused on video games, Lost in Cult has also produced vinyl records featuring popular game soundtracks. The introduction of Editions expands their commitment to game preservation and curated content, akin to a Criterion Collection for video games. This initiative aims to safeguard celebrated titles while providing context that highlights their significance in the gaming industry.
For its inaugural wave of releases, three acclaimed indie games have been selected: Immortality, Thank Goodness You’re Here, and The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow. Each title has garnered critical acclaim in recent years, with Immortality being Digital Trends’ runner-up for Game of the Year in 2022, just behind Elden Ring. Every purchase will include a poster, art cards, thought-provoking essays, interviews, and more physical extras.
All three games are currently available for pre-order at a price of £60. Lost in Cult plans to ship Editions globally, with an ambitious goal of delivering within three months, though it has set a six-month maximum.
At launch, Editions will feature releases for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Thank Goodness You’re Here will be available on both platforms, while Immortality will be exclusive to PS5, and The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow will be on Switch. There will be a limited number of copies available for each platform, although Lost in Cult has stated that standard editions will also be sold at retailers.
Looking ahead, there are plans for Nintendo Switch 2 Editions (not to be confused with earlier models), which will always be “full editions” instead of Game-Key Cards.
More titles are set to arrive shortly. While there will be no new announcements in June, the next Edition is scheduled for July, exclusively for Nintendo Switch and PS5. Teasing an “artful” focus for the upcoming release, the company has plans for additional editions through 2026.
The first three Editions can be ordered now via Lost in Cult’s official website.
