The Rage Virus has taken a frightening turn in the first teaser for 28 Years Later, the eagerly anticipated third installment of the zombie apocalypse series conceived by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland.
This chilling trailer is complemented by a haunting recitation of Rudyard Kipling’s poem, Boots. As it unfolds, we witness the outbreak of the zombie virus in the U.K., with the narrative jumping to a staggering 10,228 days later, where a small band of survivors is living in isolation on a heavily fortified island. One of these survivors, portrayed by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, ventures to the mainland armed with a bow and arrow.
The footage also introduces Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes, the latter appearing blood-soaked as he approaches an imposing statue constructed from skulls. Other notable cast members include Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, Edvin Ryding, and Erin Kellyman.
Fans are buzzing with curiosity about Cillian Murphy’s absence. Murphy, who gained acclaim for his role as Jim in the original film 28 Days Later, was confirmed to return for 28 Years Later. Although he serves as an executive producer, his name does not appear on the new promotional materials. Nonetheless, some fans speculate that he may make a brief appearance as a zombie in the background.
Boyle takes the director’s chair for 28 Years Later, working from a screenplay by Garland. The pair previously collaborated in the same roles for 28 Days Later, but opted to only serve as executive producers for the 2007 sequel, 28 Weeks Later.
