If you own a Belkin wireless charger designed for your Apple Watch, it’s crucial to note that a recall has been issued. Belkin is voluntarily recalling its BoostCharge Pro Fast Wireless Charger for Apple Watch + Power Bank due to risks of overheating, which may lead to a fire hazard.
This recall impacts all units of the Belkin BoostCharge Pro Fast Wireless Charger for Apple Watch + Power Bank 10K, identified by the model number BPD005. If you have one of these chargers, you can receive a full refund. While there have been no reported injuries associated with the product, Belkin warns that a manufacturing defect could result in overheating of the charger’s lithium cell component.
What to do if you possess the charger
If you own this charger, there’s no need to panic. Here are some straightforward steps to safely handle the situation:
- Cease usage: Immediately stop using the charger if you have it.
- Disconnect and isolate: Unplug the charger from any power source and remove it from all devices.
- Store safely: Keep the charger in a secure, dry location away from flammable materials. Avoid any conditions that could damage the power bank.
- Do not discard: Do not throw the charger in the trash or recycling bin.
Process for obtaining a refund
To receive your full refund, Belkin instructs that you fill out an online form with your name and relevant personal information, including the valid serial number located on the back of the device behind the Apple Watch charging pad.
If the serial number is no longer readable, you can still obtain a refund by providing a copy of your purchase receipt along with a photograph showing both the front and back of the power bank.
