Hollywood often celebrates reunions, particularly when they involve iconic stars like Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the duo is set to come together again for a currently untitled romantic thriller that is in development at Amazon MGM Studios. Noah Oppenheim, who recently worked on Netflix’s Zero Day, will be crafting the screenplay. While the specifics of the plot remain a mystery, it has been described as “propulsive.”
Reeves and Bullock famously co-starred in Speed, Jan de Bont’s 1994 thrill ride that involved a bomb on a bus. Reeves portrayed LAPD officer Jack Traven, who was on a mission to track down Howard Payne (played by Dennis Hopper), a former bomb squad specialist turned extortionist. Payne set a bomb to trigger if the bus’s speed fell below 50 miles per hour. Jack leaps onto the bus, attempting to avert disaster, with Annie Porter (Bullock) stepping up to take the wheel after the driver is shot.
Upon its release in June 1994, Speed became a massive success, raking in $350 million worldwide from a budget of less than $40 million. This film catapulted Reeves and Bullock to stardom.

Despite some critical setbacks, Reeves found success with The Matrix. Meanwhile, Bullock emerged as a beloved figure in romantic comedies, earning an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in 2009’s The Blind Side. Now, three decades after Speed, both actors remain high-profile stars. Reeves revived his career with the John Wick series, while Bullock continued to shine with films like Bird Box, The Unforgivable, and The Lost City.
Reeves and Bullock crossed paths again over ten years later in 2006’s The Lake House. While it didn’t receive glowing reviews, it still managed to pull in over $114 million. Mark Gordon, who produced Speed, is also on board for this upcoming romantic thriller, joined by producers Reeves, Bullock, Oppenheim, Sarah Bremner, and Bibby Dunn.
