There’s been considerable uncertainty regarding the launch timeline for AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D processors.
After their initial announcement at CES 2025, speculation around these chips has been rampant. However, a recent report indicates that the release schedule is beginning to solidify. According to sources, AMD plans to roll out these new CPUs in just a few weeks, with performance reviews going live the day prior to their official launch.

According to a Weibo post from Golden Pig Upgrade, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D are set for a March 12 release, with review embargoes lifting on March 11. The publication corroborated these dates with other sources, but official confirmation from AMD is still pending.
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D features 16 cores and is tailored specifically for gaming enthusiasts, while the Ryzen 9900X3D comes equipped with 12 cores. Both processors belong to the Zen 5 generation and incorporate 3D V-Cache technology.

The new CPUs follow the Ryzen 9800X3D, an 8-core model that launched in November 2024 to great acclaim and demand. Priced at $479, it has only recently started becoming more widely available.
According to TechRadar, the new processors may face stiff competition from their predecessor, despite their enhanced specifications. AMD suggests that while the Ryzen 9950X3D will provide a marginally superior gaming experience, users of the Ryzen 9800X3D may not find a pressing need to upgrade unless they engage in more resource-intensive tasks, especially considering the likelihood of a price increase with the new models.
While the exact pricing for the Ryzen 9950X3D and 9900X3D has not yet been finalized, rumors indicate potential retail prices of $699 and $599, respectively, following an early listing on Newegg.
