The new year is off to a fast start, with Samsung introducing two mobile devices to the U.S. market. After launching in other regions last October, the Galaxy Fit 3 and Galaxy A16 5G are now confirmed to be available stateside.

Let’s begin with the Galaxy Fit 3, my top pick among the two. As the follow-up to 2022’s Galaxy Fit 2, this compact and budget-friendly fitness tracker is comparable to the Fitbit Charge 6 or Fitbit Inspire 3. It features a 1.6-inch AMOLED display, which is 45% larger than its predecessor, and promises an impressive battery life of up to 13 days. The body is constructed from aluminum with a sleek matte finish and offers 5ATM/IP68 water resistance.

What health and fitness features does it offer? Samsung highlights that the Galaxy Fit 3 is capable of tracking over 100 different types of workouts. It automatically detects activities like walking, running, and swimming, and can also monitor workouts on elliptical and rowing machines. Sleep tracking includes detailed sleep cycles, snore detection, and blood oxygen level monitoring — a feature that isn’t even available on the Apple Watch Series 9 in the U.S. All health data can be easily synced with the Samsung Health app.

The Galaxy Fit 3 also incorporates smartwatch-like features, such as media controls for music and podcasts on your phone, support for notifications, and lightweight apps/widgets for checking the weather and calendar. Additionally, its safety features include fall detection and an Emergency SOS function, activated by pressing the side button five times.

The cherry on top? You can snag all of this for just $60.

Alongside the Galaxy Fit 3, Samsung has announced that the Galaxy A16 5G smartphone is now available in the U.S. This device boasts impressive specifications, including a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 800 nits. The camera setup features a 50-megapixel primary lens, a 5MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 13MP front-facing camera. The device is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1330 processor and comes with a robust 5,000mAh battery.

One standout feature of the Galaxy A16 5G is its software longevity. Samsung commits to providing six years of Android OS updates and security patches, an exceptional pledge for a device starting at just $200.

Both the Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy Fit 3 will be available for purchase from Samsung’s official website, retail outlets, and carriers starting January 9. Additionally, purchasing the Galaxy A16 5G comes with a 50% discount on the Galaxy Fit 3, reducing its price to an astounding $30.

We look forward to putting both the A16 5G and Fit 3 through their paces in real-world scenarios. Based on their specifications and features at such affordable price points, Samsung may have two attractive offerings on their hands.
