OpenAI has recruited Ruoming Pang, a well-known AI researcher previously at Meta, who joined the company roughly seven months ago from Apple, according to a report from The Information, citing an OpenAI spokesperson.
Meta and OpenAI did not respond immediately to Reuters’ inquiries for comment.
Pang was responsible for managing AI infrastructure at Meta’s Superintelligence Labs, the division working on the company’s next-generation AI models.
He left Meta last week after being actively chased by OpenAI for several months, the report adds.
Last year, Pang joined Meta with a compensation package exceeding $200 million over multiple years, as reported by Bloomberg.
