Just a week after the introduction of the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R, the smartphone manufacturer and its parent company, Oppo, are already preparing for another launch event scheduled for February. At this gathering, OnePlus is expected to unveil the OnePlus Open 2 and the OnePlus Watch 3. While there have been plenty of unofficial leaks regarding these devices, a recent official teaser suggests that the OnePlus Watch 3 may come equipped with blood pressure monitoring capabilities.
This teaser originates from Zhou Yibao, a product manager at Oppo. On the Chinese social media platform Weibo, Yibao showcased a preview of the forthcoming Oppo Watch X2, which is likely to be marketed as the OnePlus Watch 3. The post specifically notes that the Watch X2 will be able to detect irregular blood pressure fluctuations, and an accompanying image illustrates blood pressure trends over a two-week period, indicating potential hypertension risks.

This marks our first official glimpse of the Oppo Watch X2—and therefore, the OnePlus Watch 3. Although the watch’s casing is covered in plastic, the photo reveals the arrangement of the buttons and a new design on the circular crown. The strap design continues the aesthetic of the previous model.
It’s worth noting that upcoming models from Apple, including the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3, are also rumored to feature blood pressure monitoring, but Oppo and OnePlus might bring out this functionality months ahead. Samsung, meanwhile, has included blood pressure monitoring in the last four editions of the Galaxy Watch; however, it necessitates an initial calibration with a medical-grade BP monitor. It is speculated that a similar requirement may apply to these new watches.

The OnePlus Watch 2, also known as the Oppo Watch X in some regions, was the company’s inaugural Wear OS smartwatch, featuring a sleek stainless steel design and a touted week-long battery life. While it was priced competitively against the Galaxy Watch 6 and later models, OnePlus chose to forgo essential features like cellular connectivity and an electrocardiogram (ECG). Additionally, the circular crown on the OnePlus Watch 2 was non-functional aside from acting as a push button.

It appears that OnePlus and Oppo have addressed some of these shortcomings, with the new generation of smartwatches anticipated to include an ECG feature along with blood pressure monitoring and a functional rotating crown button. Whether these models will offer cellular connectivity outside of China remains uncertain; however, previous leaks have hinted that the Watch 3 may house a larger battery than its predecessor.
As it stands, OnePlus has not yet made any official announcements about the Watch 3 or the Open 2, and the exact launch dates are still unknown. Some speculation suggests that the unveiling could happen sometime in Q1 2025, although more definitive information is lacking. While there haven’t been indications from Oppo regarding this, OnePlus might opt to introduce both a standard Watch 3 and a Watch 3 Pro, with uncertainty surrounding which model would essentially be a rebranded version of the Oppo Watch X2.
