I understand your hesitation. Charging cables might not be the most exciting gadget out there, and I wouldn’t blame you for sighing. However, OnePlus has unveiled a new cable that truly stands out.

Dubbed the OnePlus 2-in-1 SUPERVOOC Cable, it comes with a USB-A connector on one end and a USB-C connector on the other—at first glance, it seems just like any other ordinary USB charging cable.

But don’t let its simple appearance fool you; this 1.2-meter cable has an added feature: a built-in POGO pin connector situated partway down the vibrant red cord.

Why is this beneficial? Well, it allows you to charge your OnePlus Watch concurrently with your smartphone, eliminating the hassle of carrying multiple cables or cumbersome charging stands.

How Does It Function?

This cable can provide charging speeds of up to 80W when linked to a compatible smartphone. By connecting a OnePlus Watch along with it, the watch will pull 10W while directing up to 67W to your phone.

OnePlus has integrated an “E-marker smart chip” into the cable, designed to protect your devices from power surges, which adds a level of reassurance.

Keep in mind, though, that the charging block doesn’t come included with the cable, so you’ll need your own with a USB-A port.

The POGO pin connector is compatible with the OnePlus Watch 2, Watch 2R, and the newly-released OnePlus Watch 3, which launched earlier this year. It’s also expected to work with the upcoming 43mm Watch 3 as it hits the market in the U.S.

What About Other Smartwatches?

Since OnePlus’ smartwatches utilize a specific charging connector, this cable won’t work with devices from other manufacturers, such as the Apple Watch.

Apple and third-party manufacturers already have various charging stands available for their devices, including 3-in-1 options that can charge an iPhone, AirPods, and an Apple Watch at once. However, these can often cost over $100.

These charging stations aren’t always the best choice for traveling, either. With the new OnePlus cable, users of compatible watches only need to pack one cable to power both their watch and phone on the go, something that Apple Watch users typically can’t do.

The idea may seem straightforward now that it’s here, but it’s a combination I never would have envisioned. Kudos to OnePlus for this innovation; it will be interesting to see if competitors adopt similar solutions for their own devices.

The 2-in-1 cable is priced at $29.99 and is available on the OnePlus website today.
