Get ready for an electrifying showdown in The Old Guard 2, featuring two of Hollywood’s most formidable action stars! In one corner, we have Charlize Theron, a powerhouse who triumphed in the post-apocalyptic landscape of Mad Max: Fury Road and demonstrated her fierce skills as a secret agent in Atomic Blonde. Opposing her is Uma Thurman, a groundbreaking figure in the genre, best known for her iconic role as The Bride in Kill Bill.
This summer, Theron and Thurman clash in the fantasy sci-fi sequel available on Netflix. The trailer showcases Andy (played by Theron) learning to navigate life without her immortality. Quynh (Veronica Ngô) has escaped from her submerged captor, while Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts) remains in exile following his betrayal.
Joining Andy in her quest are her teammates Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), Nicky (Luca Marinelli), and James Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor). They seek the wisdom of Tuah (Henry Golding), an old ally who may provide insights into their immortality. This formidable team must unite to confront Discord (Thurman), the original immortal and Andy’s former adversary.
“I will annihilate everything you hold dear with a force you cannot possibly comprehend,” declares Discord as she prepares to face Andy.

Directed by Victoria Mahoney, The Old Guard 2 features a screenplay by Greg Rucka, based on the comic books he created with illustrator Leandro Fernandez.
This film is a follow-up to The Old Guard, originally helmed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and released on Netflix in July 2020, which garnered positive reactions for its action sequences, direction, and lead performances.
As Netflix aims to establish more franchises, the sequel’s success is crucial. The five-year hiatus since the first film may pose a challenge in rekindling audience interest. Nevertheless, if The Old Guard 2 impresses, it will likely draw a dedicated fanbase.
Scheduled to premiere on July 2, The Old Guard 2 will be available for streaming on Netflix. In the meantime, viewers can catch up with the original film.
