Bloober Team recently unveiled its new intellectual property, Cronos: The New Dawn, at the Future Games Show, and it promises to be both thrilling and disturbing. Players, taking on the role of a Traveler, will navigate the desolate landscape of a post-apocalyptic Poland set in the 1980s. But the experience doesn’t end there; time travel will also play a crucial role in the survival horror elements of the game.
First announced in October 2024, Cronos: The New Dawn focuses not only on uncovering the catastrophic events that led to the downfall of civilization but also on battling horrific, distorted creatures. This unique premise has sparked significant interest since its debut, with the latest developer diary offering an in-depth look into its intriguing world.
Travelers are sent back in time with the mission of rescuing individuals from the impending apocalypse (the specifics of which remain shrouded in mystery). Rather than being traditional soldiers aiming to thwart the disaster, Travelers resemble divers, which is reflected in their retro diving suit-inspired character design.
The trailers reveal a variety of humanoid monsters that may very well be former humans who failed to survive the apocalypse. Players can expect an arsenal of different weapons, and as a lighthearted aside, plenty of ladders to scale throughout the game.

Developers Wojciech Piejko and Jacek Zieba convey that this title is a tribute to body horror classics, capturing the fear and unpredictability reminiscent of “The Thing.” From the brief gameplay glimpses in the trailer, it’s evident they’ve succeeded in capturing that eerie atmosphere.
Cronos: The New Dawn is set to release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Bloober Team is renowned for its previous horror titles, including The Medium, Observer, and the anticipated remake of Silent Hill 2. For horror enthusiasts and fans of the studio’s past work, this upcoming title is definitely one to watch.
