If you’ve explored the areas of Izumi Settsu, Yamashiro, or other locations on the Assassin’s Creed Shadows map, you’ve probably encountered various castles and forts. One notable site in Iga is Hijiyama Fort, where you can sneak inside, battle against Samurai Daisho, and gather some valuable loot.
When approaching the fort, you can choose your method. Whether you prefer Noae’s stealthy tactics or Yasuke’s brute force, both strategies can be effective. While Yasuke’s powerful approach might get you through quickly, we’ll focus on some swift, silent ways to eliminate your targets within Hijiyama Fort in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Where is the Hijiyama Fort?
Travel to the Hijiyama area of Iga to reach Hijiyama Fort.
The nearest fast travel point is Aekuni Kakurega, located in Ichinomiya. There’s also a fast travel point situated near the back of the fort.
To start, approach the fort from the east and take the path up. Immediately climb the wall to the left of the main entrance to take out the guard in the tower. This will give you more freedom to survey the area.
How to Find & Assassinate the First Samurai Daisho
The first Samurai Daisho can be found on the opposite side of the courtyard, toward the northern area of the fort at a lower elevation. He patrols a small space that you can access by crossing right from the entrance and climbing up the scaffolding.
Be swift and catch the Daisho by surprise as he goes back down the stairs. This will allow you to execute a quiet assassination.
Even if you find yourself in a fight, the enclosed area can help keep other guards from becoming aware of the action, as the Daisho has a high health pool that makes quick elimination challenging.
How to Find & Assassinate the Second Samurai Daisho
From where you took out the first Daisho, head up the stairs to the next section and eliminate the first guard you come across. Don’t forget to loot the chest with a katana on your right.
Next, continue towards the central part of the fort, defeating a guard along the scaffolding and sabotaging the alarm bell for good measure.
The second Samurai Daisho is located in the same area as the key-bearer, on the higher southern area of the fort. You can eliminate him silently by waiting for the patrolling guard to pass, then jumping into the well behind the Daisho. From there, assassinate the Daisho by pulling him into the well, ensuring no one is alerted.
Alternatively, you can use a Shinobi Bell to lure the Daisho closer to your position, and once he gets within reach, jump down and perform the assassination when no one is watching. Just make sure to duck into cover right away.
What Rewards Do You Get From the Hijiyama Fort?
After taking down the second Daisho, explore Fort Hijiyama’s side loot and main chest.
Side Loot
Here are the main side loot spots in Hijiyama Fort:
- Key: Look for the guard with the key in the western central area of the fort.
From the entrance, head right into the upper courtyard and move past the alert bell. You can reach this location by swinging across a tree branch using your grappling hook from the top of the alert bell tower. Take out the guard when he passes to claim the key.
- Door: You’ll find the door this key unlocks in the southeastern corner of Hijiyama Fort, guarded by a few enemies.
Assassinate the guard by the door and step inside to find two resource piles, some cosmetics, and a small resource bundle.
- Additional Loot:
- In the far southwestern building, there’s a chest with a tanto and sometimes dark fragments.
- In another building directly across from the southwestern house with the Legendary Chest, there’s a chest containing a weapon.
Synchronize Spot
After you’re done exploring and collecting loot, navigate to the outskirts using the walls and buildings to reach the southwestern guard tower.
From that position, climb up to a crumbling roof where you can synchronize and survey the entire area.
Legendary Chest
In the far southwestern building of the fort, you’ll discover the Legendary Chest, which rewards you with the following upon completing Fort Hijiyama:
- Swift Shinobi Robes
- An Engraving
- 3,000 Experience Points
- Two Mastery Points
