Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault was unveiled during the recent PC Gaming Show. This sequel follows up on the beloved 2018 title Moonlighter, where players navigate the dual challenges of dungeon exploration and managing a shop.
The original Moonlighter catapulted developer Digital Sun into the spotlight. Since then, the studio has contributed to titles like The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story and Cataclismo, and now they are returning to their roots with support from 11 bit Studios, who also published the first game and are known for titles like Frostpunk 2. It seems that Moonlighter 2 will stay true to its predecessor’s essence while continuing the journey of Will, the lovable shopkeeper from the original.
The most noticeable changes are the shift to 3D graphics instead of pixel art and a brand-new setting. In Moonlighter 2, Will must rebuild his business in the village of Tresna after it becomes ensnared in a “mysterious dimension.” Players will venture into Vaults to defeat enemies and acquire treasures to sell in Will’s shop, all while searching for a means to escape.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2025. If you’re curious about additional updates from the PC Gaming Show, the creator of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds also introduced several new titles.
