Capcom has unveiled an extensive preview of Monster Hunter Wilds, complete with the much-anticipated release date. Players can embark on their adventures starting February 28, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
The latest footage for this new chapter in the beloved Monster Hunter series highlights a more intimate narrative. It begins with a child escaping from the terrifying White Wraith and introduces several characters that players will grow close to as they hunt formidable creatures. The charming Palicos return, aiding players in cooking and combat, reminiscent of their roles in previous installments. One notable moment sees a Palico coming to the rescue when a hunter is incapacitated, dropping a health potion just in time.
As for the fearsome monsters, a number of impressive creatures made an appearance in the trailer, although many of them have been featured in earlier teasers. These include a colossal aquatic beast that leaps gracefully from the water and a large, furry creature that a hunter manages to defeat using a grappling hook and some environmental debris. Nevertheless, the standout monster is the White Wraith Arkveld, the game’s main adversary and the center of the storyline. This creature, once thought to be extinct, has returned to cause chaos in the world.
Another key element emphasized in Monster Hunter Wilds is the dynamic weather system. The new trailer showcases various scenarios where environmental conditions impact gameplay—ranging from rivers swelling with rain to sandstorms reducing visibility significantly and triggering lethal lightning strikes.
Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Preorders are currently available and come with exclusive bonuses, including the Layered Armor Guild Knight Set and the Hope Charm Talisman.
