A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky area in Russia on Friday, according to the US Geological Survey. The earthquake occurred at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles). Following the quake, the US National Weather Service’s Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii issued a tsunami advisory.
