Aquaman bids farewell.
After portraying Arthur Curry/Aquaman within the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Jason Momoa is set to embrace a new role as Lobo in the upcoming DC Universe created by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Momoa will make his first appearance as Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
On his Instagram, he shared a quote from an earlier interview where he revealed his enthusiasm for the character of Lobo.
“Lobo was always my favorite character,” Momoa stated. “I used to collect comics, not as much anymore, but I always dreamt of playing Lobo. I mean, come on—it’s the ideal role. If they reach out and offer it to me, it’s a total yes from me. I haven’t gotten that call yet, so no need to spread any false rumors, but if they ever approach me, I’ll be ready to audition.”
Lobo was created by writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen, making his debut in Omega Men No. 3. Often classified as an antihero, Lobo possesses superhuman strength and healing abilities and is typically seen with a cigar.
This character has appeared chiefly in DC animated series like Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League Action. He made his live-action introduction in the television series Krypton, played by Emmett J. Scanlan.
Momoa originally took on the role of Arthur Curry in Justice League before headlining his own film, Aquaman, which became a blockbuster hit, amassing over $1 billion. Its sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, garnered a total of $439 million.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is slated for theatrical release on June 26, 2026.
