The yet-to-be-announced Honor Magic V5 is generating buzz, particularly regarding its battery size, which is expected to surpass that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
According to a report from GSMArena, the battery in Honor’s forthcoming foldable device is projected to be around 6,000mAh. This is due to the incorporation of two cells of different capacities, with one cell being 3,880mAh and the other at 2,070mAh. When combined, these batteries yield a total capacity of 5,950mAh.
This enhancement marks a difference of 800mAh over the Honor Magic V3, which had a battery capacity of 5,150mAh. The Magic V3 was capable of 66W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging, all while holding the title of the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone. The Magic V5 is also expected to maintain 66W wired charging, but details regarding its wireless and reverse wireless charging options have yet to be confirmed.

In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to feature a 4,400mAh battery, which is the same as that found in the Z Fold 6. If this capacity remains unchanged, we can likely expect similar charging capabilities—25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. However, the exact specifications for the Z Fold 7 will only be known once Samsung makes an official announcement.
You might be wondering, “Where’s the Magic V4?” Back in February, there were discussions about it, but reports indicated that Honor will bypass it in favor of the Magic V5. This decision is rooted in cultural beliefs, as Chinese manufacturers often skip the number four due to its association with bad luck; the word for four sounds similar to the word for “death” in Mandarin, leading to a phenomenon known as tetraphobia. This is also why Oppo launched the Oppo Find N5 after the Find N3.
