Google Doodle celebrated the 100th birthday of a famous Punjabi writer Amrita Pritam with an eye-catching doodle.

The Punjabi writer from Indian Punjab is crowned as the poet of 20th century.

What does this Google Doodle show?

The Punjabi poet, Amrita is seen sitting crossed legged with a background that shows a typical house in Indian Punjab.

Purpose roses can be seen lying next to her, to praise her autobiography “Black Rose” also known as “Kala Gulab”.

On the 31st of August 2019, she would have been 100 years old.

Who is Amrita Pritam?

Amrita Pritam was born as Amrit Kaur, she was born in British India’s Gujranwala. Now Punjab, Pakistan.

Amrita was known for her books and poem’s written in Punjabi language, even though she also wrote pieces in Urdu and Hindi.

Amrita was nominated in the Upper House of Parliament in 1986.

She was also honored with India’s Highest Literary Award in 2004, also known as The Sahitya Akademi Fellowship.

She has also been given the title, “Immortals of Literature”
