Fortnite is set to implement significant updates to its battle pass system in a matter of weeks. Epic Games previously announced plans to enhance battle pass progression, and now they are also modifying aspects of the Fortnite Crew subscription service.
In a blog post released on Wednesday, Epic Games shared that all battle passes will now be part of the Fortnite Crew package. Subscribers can expect that their progression will count not just toward the Battle Royale Pass but also toward the Music Pass and Lego Pass—all for a monthly fee of $12 starting December 1.
This update will also extend to any future battle passes, including the Fortnite OG pass, which will be part of the new permanent Fortnite OG mode debuting on December 6.
Fortnite Crew, introduced in 2020, initially provided access to the current season’s Battle Royale pass along with exclusive benefits such as 1,000 V-Bucks (which essentially offset the cost of the pass), Rocket Pass Premium for Rocket League, and unique monthly skins for Crew members. While it appears these features will remain intact, Epic Games is tightening the rules for claiming rewards. Previously, subscribers could claim rewards and then cancel their subscription; now, new subscribers must maintain an active subscription to receive their rewards. Current subscribers are subject to the same policy unless they decide to cancel.
Additionally, there is a subtle but notable adjustment in the cost of the Battle Royale Battle Pass, which will increase from 950 to 1,000 V-Bucks for each season. Although this change seems minor, it marks the first time Epic Games has raised the price of the standard battle pass. To help mitigate the cost, certain bundles, like the 25-level battle pass reward bundle, will now be priced at 1,800 V-Bucks instead of 1,850. The prices for both the Lego and Music passes will also remain unchanged moving forward.
