The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is just around the corner, slated for January 22, and it promises to reveal key information about the Galaxy S25 series. However, a recent report hints that attendees might be treated to unexpected announcements, including the anticipated Galaxy Ring 2.
The Galaxy Ring 2 has been a subject of speculation for some time now, with previous leaks providing insights into its specifications. A new report from DigiTimes, a Taiwanese news source, suggests that Samsung is likely to unveil the device during the Galaxy Unpacked event, similar to how it introduced the original Galaxy Ring earlier this year.
Details regarding its expected performance remain vague. Nonetheless, the report emphasizes an improvement in battery life that could exceed seven days, along with enhanced AI capabilities and additional health sensors. However, it’s important to note that battery longevity may vary depending on the size of the Galaxy Ring.
The report also indicates that the Galaxy Ring will be offered in two new sizes, bringing the total to eleven, in a bid to rival the sizing options provided by Oura.
In addition to the Galaxy Ring 2, Samsung may reveal its much-discussed augmented reality smart glasses. Specifics about these glasses have been scarce, but they are expected to resemble typical eyewear and weigh approximately 50 grams—about the same as a household sponge.
It’s important to keep in mind that not all of the products announced at Galaxy Unpacked will be immediately available for purchase. Just as the original Galaxy Ring was unveiled during the January event but didn’t hit the market until summer, the same timeline might apply to the Galaxy Ring 2 and the AR smart glasses. With such limited information about the smart glasses, their release could still be quite a ways off.
As always, it’s wise to approach these rumors with a pinch of skepticism. Despite credible sources, rumors remain speculative until confirmed. Definitive details will only surface during the event.
