Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported that over 2.8 million passengers used public transportation, taxis, ride-hailing services, and shared mobility options during the New Year’s Eve celebrations in 2026, reflecting a growth of more than 13% compared to the previous year.
This increase was achieved through a comprehensive traffic management plan that involved temporary road closures and traffic control measures across the emirate. The plan was coordinated with Dubai’s Event Security Committee, government agencies, and key partners, according to the RTA.
On New Year’s Eve, more than 2.83 million people utilized various transit modes: the Dubai Metro’s Red and Green lines served approximately 1.25 million commuters, the Dubai Tram transported nearly 58,000, public buses and on-demand bus services moved over 503,000 passengers, and taxis carried about 662,000 individuals.
Marine transportation services handled nearly 77,000 travelers, while ride-hailing vehicles facilitated approximately 286,000 trips. Shared mobility services transported roughly 1,500 passengers.
The RTA emphasized that the traffic approach ensured the safe and seamless movement of the crowd to and from celebration zones, underscoring Dubai’s ability to manage large-scale events efficiently and in accordance with international standards.
