Game developers are investigating reports indicating that certain titles perform worse on the PlayStation 5 Pro compared to the standard PS5.
The PS5 Pro, a more advanced iteration of the original console, is built to enhance performance and graphical fidelity in games thanks to upgraded components and proprietary technology. Sony has compiled a list of titles that leverage PS5 Pro features, including PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which utilizes AI-enhanced upscaling. This feature essentially provides an alternative option for players seeking higher frame rates without compromising visual quality. Notably, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and the Silent Hill 2 remake have both displayed graphical glitches when played on PS5 Pro.
Both Bloober Team and EA have addressed these issues on X. Bloober announced it is “working on it,” while EA confirmed it’s “actively investigating” the problems. Additional reports have surfaced regarding visual glitches in Alan Wake 2, though Remedy has yet to comment on these claims.
As of now, PlayStation has not issued any statements regarding the graphical discrepancies. Digital Trends has reached out for comment and will provide updates when available.

Digital Foundry has been assessing PS5 Pro enhanced games and recently highlighted the Silent Hill 2 remake and Jedi: Survivor in its analyses. The enhanced version of Jedi: Survivor appeared “dramatically worse” under PSSR upscaling, exhibiting graphical flaws in performance mode that reduced resolution to approximately 720p. Similarly, Silent Hill 2 has shown issues like flickering and pixelation on specific assets. Interestingly, reverting from the PS5 Pro update showed improvements in visual quality. Digital Foundry has also explored Alan Wake 2, which, while performing better than the aforementioned titles, still suffers from a lower resolution with PSSR.
Players have taken to platforms like Reddit, expressing concerns and urging Bloober Team to address the patch for PS5 Pro. Although Jedi: Survivor has not historically been known for stellar performance, these recent developments mark a step backward for EA, especially as they continue to refine it on systems such as PC.
The root cause of these issues remains uncertain. Some theories circulating on Resetera indicate the possibility that these games may be utilizing an earlier iteration of PSSR, and future updates could resolve the problems. Another hypothesis suggests that a bug might specifically impact games rendering natively at lower resolutions (below 1080p).
Currently, over 50 titles are enhanced for PS5 Pro and utilize PSSR features, with additional games planned for future updates. Recently, PlayStation announced that The Callisto Protocol and an upcoming title from Krafton are set to receive enhancements. It’s hoped these graphical issues will soon be remedied; investing $700 in a console should not lead to subpar gaming experiences.
