Overview of the New CMF Phone 2 Pro and Earbuds from Nothing
Technology company Nothing is making a significant impact in early 2025 by unveiling the CMF Phone 2 Pro and an impressive array of earbuds, following the successful launch of their Nothing Phone 3a series.
CMF Phone 2 Pro
The CMF Phone 2 Pro follows the acclaimed CMF Phone 1, which debuted in July 2024 as a budget-friendly yet stylish smartphone. Interestingly, the naming conventions may raise eyebrows as there is no non-Pro variant currently available, although one could be introduced later, similar to the prelude seen with the Phone 3 series.

Just like its predecessor, the CMF Phone 2 Pro allows for customization through various accessories. A standout feature is the Universal Cover, which enables users to attach different camera lenses for macro or fisheye photography. The phone sports a 50-megapixel main camera with electronic image stabilization, an 8MP wide-angle camera, and an impressive 50MP telephoto lens that supports 2x optical zoom. Additional accessories include a kickstand and a lanyard.
The device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro processor, offering 8GB of RAM, with storage choices of either 128GB or 256GB. For those needing extra space, a MicroSD card slot allows expansion up to 2TB. Its 6.77-inch AMOLED display features a resolution of 2392 x 1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and peak brightness levels of 3000 nits. The phone accommodates a 5,000mAh battery, supports 33W wired charging, and includes an in-display fingerprint sensor, all while maintaining an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.
Despite expectations for a higher price tag based on its specifications, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is priced at £219 (approximately $291) for the 8GB/128GB model and £249 (around $331) for the 8GB/256GB version. Notably, the 8GB/256GB variant will be available in the U.S. through Nothing’s Beta Program for $279.
CMF Earbuds
Accompanying the smartphone launch are three new sets of earbuds: the CMF Buds 2, Buds 2 Plus, and Buds 2a.

The Buds 2a serve as the entry-level option, featuring a 12.4mm bio-fiber driver, 42dB active noise cancellation (ANC), four HD microphones, an IP54 rating, and battery life extending up to eight hours without ANC, with a total of 35 hours when charged with the case.
The Buds 2 offer a step up with an 11mm PMI driver, 48dB hybrid ANC, Ultra Bass and Spatial Audio modes, six HD microphones, an IP55 rating, and battery life of 13 hours without ANC and 55 hours using the case.

Sitting between the Buds 2 and the premium Buds Pro 2, the Buds 2 Plus feature a 12mm LCP driver, a 6mm coaxial driver, Hi-Res LDAC audio support, and smart adaptive 50dB ANC, while also incorporating the same audio enhancements as the Buds 2. Battery life here stretches up to 14 hours without ANC and 61 hours via the case.
Pricing for these earbuds is also attractive, starting at £29 ($38) for the Buds 2a, £39 ($51) for the Buds 2, and £49 ($65) for the Buds 2 Plus. All new products will be available for pre-order starting April 28, with a release date set for May 6.
With this new lineup, Nothing aims to offer both affordability and enhanced features, continuing to challenge the status quo in the smartphone market.
