Beijing has confirmed that none of the victims of recent severe flash floods in Pakistan are Chinese nationals. During a regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated, “Currently, we have no information indicating any Chinese citizens have lost their lives in this disaster. Our embassy in Pakistan continues to verify the situation.” She conveyed China’s sympathies for those affected and expressed condolences for the lives lost and the destruction caused by the floods, which have resulted in hundreds of fatalities and widespread displacement across various regions.
Ning also mentioned that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi extended condolences to Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, reaffirming China’s confidence in Pakistan’s resilience. “We believe the Pakistani people will recover from this tragedy and rebuild their communities,” she added.
