The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro is an impressive device tailored for gamers, and now there are strong indications that Asus is set to unveil the ROG Phone 9 FE. This information has emerged from a significant leak, which not only detailed the specifications but also showcased several images of the anticipated model.
Currently, the ROG Phone 9 FE is expected to hit the market by the end of 2025, although no specific release date has been confirmed yet. It is projected to feature a 6.78-inch FHD+ display with an impressive peak brightness of up to 2,500 nits, allowing users to easily browse the web or engage in mobile gaming under direct sunlight.
The device is anticipated to offer a 165Hz refresh rate (which can boost to 185Hz in Game Genie mode) along with Gorilla Glass Victus 2, mirroring the display of the ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro. Users can expect a slightly smaller battery capacity of 5,500mAh, compared to the 5,900mAh found in its predecessors, as reported by 91mobiles.

In terms of performance, the ROG Phone 9 FE is no slouch. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, complemented by 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Photography enthusiasts can enjoy a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP macro camera, complemented by a 32MP selfie camera. However, it is worth noting that the FE version will not include a telephoto lens, a downgrade from its more premium siblings.
A gaming phone wouldn’t be complete without a headphone jack, and luckily, this device includes a 3.5mm port, along with dual stereo speakers and support for Wi-Fi 7. It’s designed for competitive gaming, particularly when paired with a mobile controller, though its AirTrigger controls (programmable touchpads) also provide a seamless gaming experience without needing additional accessories.
Weighing in at 225g and measuring 163.8 x 76.8 x 8.9mm, the ROG Phone 9 FE currently comes in a striking Phantom Black color. Its design closely resembles previous models, with only minor tweaks, such as the addition of “09” etched on the side. The phone will also feature a variant of Asus’s well-known ROG Vision rear display. As the popularity of gaming smartphones continues to rise, the ROG Phone 9 FE promises to be an ideal companion for gamers looking to maintain their gaming momentum on the go.
