Elon Musk’s social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), is currently experiencing a widespread outage affecting several countries, including Pakistan, as confirmed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Saturday.
"This incident follows a similar global outage that occurred on Thursday, May 22, which persisted for several hours before being resolved," stated the PTA in an official release.
The authority’s investigation found no technical issues at Pakistan’s internet gateways. They confirmed that all other internet services in the country are functioning normally.
Additionally, global internet observatory NetBlocks reported that the outages affecting X are international in nature and not attributed to any localized internet disruptions or censorship.
"The PTA is actively monitoring the situation and will provide the public with significant updates as they arise," the telecom regulator commented.
Meanwhile, a report by Reuters noted that X was down for tens of thousands of users in the United States on Saturday. According to the outage tracking website Downdetector.com, over 25,000 reports of issues with the platform were logged by 8:39 AM EDT (12:39 PM GMT). This site monitors outages by compiling status reports from various sources.
