Shocking Lynching Incident in Karnataka
In a disturbing event, an unidentified man was lynched by a mob for allegedly chanting “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans during a local cricket match in Karnataka, India, as confirmed by Home Minister G Parameshwara on Tuesday.
The tragic occurrence happened near the Bhatra Kallurti Temple in the Kudupu region on April 27, according to reports from Indian media.
Minister Parameshwara stated that the matter is under thorough investigation, noting, “We have yet to identify the victim and are uncertain whether he was from the local area or another state.”
Initial reports indicate that the man’s chanting incited the mob attack, prompting Parameshwara to express his grave concern. He emphasized that violence is never justified: “Even if someone says something offensive, the law should take its course. Vigilantism is unacceptable,” he remarked.
The minister also cautioned against jumping to conclusions about the incident’s motives, urging everyone to foster peace and harmony. “This area has a history of communal coexistence, which we must protect,” he added.
As reported by India Today, the incident unfolded around 3 PM on Sunday during a cricket tournament. Eyewitnesses said a confrontation broke out between the victim and a man named Sachin, escalating quickly into a group attack.
Police reports indicate that Sachin, 26, is one of 15 individuals arrested so far. A postmortem conducted at Wenlock District Hospital revealed that the victim died from internal bleeding and shock due to repeated blows to his back.
Authorities estimate that approximately 25 people participated in the assault. Nineteen individuals have been named in a First Information Report (FIR), with additional suspects likely to be identified through analysis of CCTV and mobile data.
