Wicked and Shōgun were the standout nominees at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards. The film adaptation of the acclaimed musical, Wicked, scored five nominations, including cast, stunts, lead actress (Cynthia Erivo), supporting actress (Ariana Grande), and supporting actor (Jonathan Bailey).
In the film categories, A Complete Unknown received four nominations, while both Anora and Emilia Pérez garnered three each. A significant surprise was The Last Showgirl, which received two nominations, featuring Pamela Anderson in the lead actress category and Jamie Lee Curtis in the supporting category. With these nominations, both Anderson and Curtis have bolstered their campaigns for the Oscars. Curtis, who recently won an Oscar for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, is highly respected in Hollywood.
Interestingly, some notable omissions in the film categories include Nicole Kidman for Babygirl, Angelina Jolie for Maria, Margaret Qualley for The Substance, and Denzel Washington for Gladiator II. Notably, both Sebastian Stan for A Different Man, and The Apprentice missed out on nominations as well.
Shōgun solidified its lead in the awards circuit with five nominations: cast, stunt ensemble, drama actress (Anna Sawai), and two nominations for drama actor (Tadanobu Asano and Hiroyuki Sanada). The Bear followed with four nominations, whereas The Diplomat and The Penguin managed three each.
Several surprises colored the television nominations this year, with Nicola Coughlan from Bridgerton and Lily Gladstone from Under the Bridge among the highlights. Notably, Selena Gomez missed out on an acting nomination for her role in Only Murders in the Building, similar to her snub for Emilia Pérez.
Here is the complete list of nominees for the 2025 SAG Awards, set to take place on February 23, 2025.
