7 Key Calls to Action by Prime Minister Modi to Strengthen and Sustain India in 2025

1. Refrain from Buying Gold for a Year
Prime Minister Modi has appealed to Indian citizens to refrain from purchasing gold for the upcoming year. This strategy aims to curb excessive gold imports, which have been a significant drain on the country’s foreign exchange reserves. By reducing the demand for gold, India hopes to stabilize its current account deficit and promote the sustainability of the economy. Experts suggest that saving funds now can be redirected towards investments in sectors that foster long-term growth, such as infrastructure and manufacturing.

2. Embrace Remote Work Wherever Feasible
The PM emphasized the importance of work-from-home arrangements, urging companies and employees to utilize telecommuting wherever possible. This move can help reduce traffic congestion, decrease pollution levels, and promote work-life balance. As India continues to develop its digital infrastructure, remote work is increasingly seen as a viable option for sectors ranging from IT to administrative services, leading to a more flexible and modern workforce.

3. Curtail the Usage of Cooking Oil
In a bid to lower household expenses and promote healthier living, Modi advised citizens to cut down on the consumption of cooking oil. The initiative also aligns with efforts to promote sustainable agriculture practices, as increased demand for edible oils has historically strained local farmers and increased reliance on imports. By mindful use and exploring locally sourced alternatives, households can contribute to national economic stability and environmental conservation.

4. Avoid International Travel for a Year
The prime minister suggested reducing non-essential international travel for the next 12 months. This directive seeks to preserve foreign exchange reserves, minimize carbon footprints, and promote domestic tourism. Citizens are encouraged to explore travel opportunities within India, which boasts diverse natural and cultural attractions. Such a shift not only bolsters local economies but also supports India’s sustainable development goals.

5. Support Swadeshi by Reducing Foreign Product Usage
A strong message was delivered to minimize dependence on foreign-branded products by choosing Indian-made goods. This aligns with the national drive toward Swadeshi and aims to boost local industries and artisans. By purchasing domestic products, citizens can help create jobs, promote entrepreneurship, and foster a resilient economy less vulnerable to global shocks.

6. Decrease Use of Petrol and Diesel by Opting for Public Transport
Reducing reliance on personal vehicles powered by fossil fuels is another vital appeal. Modi urged people to use metro trains, buses, and other forms of public transportation to cut down on petrol and diesel consumption. This shift supports India’s climate commitments by decreasing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, while also easing the burden on fuel imports and strengthening sustainable urban mobility.

7. Transition Toward Natural Farming and Reduce Chemical Fertilizer Dependence
The PM called for a significant move toward eco-friendly agricultural practices. Farmers are encouraged to adopt natural farming methods instead of heavily relying on chemical fertilizers. This approach aims to improve soil health, increase crop resilience, and ensure food safety. Such environmental stewardship will play a crucial role in transforming Indian agriculture into a sustainable sector that benefits both farmers and consumers.

As India steps into 2025, Prime Minister Modi’s strategic calls to action reflect a vision to foster economic resilience, environmental sustainability, and social well-being. Citizens’ cooperation in these initiatives is pivotal to shaping a prosperous, self-reliant India in the coming years.
