First, understand that according to the service manual of your device, your laptop can handle 2 x 8 GB DDR4-3200 CL22 memory, which totals 16 GB of RAM. If you feel you need more memory, follow these steps to check if your machine can support a larger capacity.

Step 1: Access the Command Prompt

  1. Click on the search box in the bottom left corner of your screen.
  2. Type “cmd” and select “Run as administrator” from the options that appear.

Step 2: Check Maximum RAM Capacity

  1. Once the Command Prompt opens, type the following command:
    wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx
  2. Hit the Enter key.

You will see the maximum RAM capacity displayed in Kilobytes. To understand this in terms of Gigabytes, you’ll need to perform a quick conversion.

Step 3: Convert Kilobytes to Gigabytes

Take the number shown in the report and divide it by 1,048,576. This will give you the maximum RAM your laptop can support in GB.

By following these steps, you can easily determine if your notebook can handle more than 16 GB of RAM. This information will help you make informed decisions about upgrading your memory to improve your device’s performance.

Now that you know how to check your notebook’s RAM capacity, you can confidently decide if an upgrade is necessary!
