If you’re having trouble copying text from a website, like a code snippet or important information, it’s usually because the copy button isn’t working as it should. Here’s an easy way to solve this problem so you can copy whatever you need quickly and easily.
First, try highlighting the text manually. Click at the start of the text you want to copy, then drag your mouse or finger to the end of the text. Once it’s highlighted, right-click and select “Copy,” or press “Ctrl + C” on your keyboard if you’re using a Windows PC, or “Command + C” on a Mac. This method often works when a copy button isn’t functioning.
If that doesn’t work, check if you’re using a browser extension or ad blocker that might be blocking the copy button. Sometimes these blockers interfere with website features. Try disabling the extensions temporarily and see if the copy button works after that.
Another solution is to use your browser’s developer tools. Right-click on the copy button or the text you want to copy and select “Inspect.” Then, look for the text within the HTML code, right-click it, and choose “Copy” or “Edit as HTML” to copy it directly.
If you’re still unable to copy text, a simple trick is to take a screenshot of the content. On Windows, press the “Windows key + Shift + S” to open the snipping tool; on Mac, press “Command + Shift + 4.” You can then save or use the image with the content you need.
By following these steps, you can easily copy text even if the website’s copy button isn’t working. If all else fails, asking the website administrator or support team for help is a good idea—they can provide a direct solution.
