If you’re trying to add reaction emojis to a GitHub discussion but are finding the process confusing or cannot react at all, here’s a simple guide to help you out.
First, find the section of the discussion where you want to express your reaction. You should see a row of small emoji buttons, each representing different reactions like thumbs up, thumbs down, smile, laugh, hooray, thinking face, heart, rocket, or eyes.
Next, click on the emoji that best matches your feeling. For example, if you agree with the comment, click the thumbs-up emoji. If you’re confused, you might choose the thinking face. When you click on an emoji, it automatically reacts to the comment, and a small number appears next to it showing how many people selected that emoji.
If you want to remove your reaction later, just click the same emoji again, and it will undo your reaction. This way, you can easily share your feelings or opinions without typing a reply.
Sometimes, reactions might not work if you don’t have permission or if there’s a temporary glitch. Make sure you’re logged into your GitHub account and have the proper access. Remaining patient and trying again later can often resolve minor issues.
Using reactions is a quick way to communicate with others without cluttering the discussion with comments. Just find the emoji, click once to react, and click again to remove it. It’s simple, fast, and a great way to participate!
