Microsoft has recently announced that the classic Outlook application will officially reach its end of life in the near future. While users have some time to adapt, the inevitable transition to the new Outlook app (or a different email client) will soon be necessary. Many users are understandably hesitant to make the switch, particularly since the new version currently lacks various features that long-time Outlook users have come to rely on.
If you’ve started using the updated Outlook, you might have noticed a significant change: the absence of the traditional “File” menu in both the main interface and in open email windows. This alteration means that saving emails in MSG format is no longer an option.
Despite this change, the new Outlook does include a saving feature. To save a single email as a file on your device, open the email in its own window, then click the three-dot menu located in the top right corner of the email (make sure it’s in the message, not the general toolbar).

Once you click on that option, a dropdown menu will appear, where you can select the Save As function at the bottom. Be aware that the new Outlook app currently supports saving emails only in the EML format, which stands for “electronic mail.”
