If your notebook uses a Realtek RTL8852AE Wi-Fi 6 card and you’re having trouble installing the driver, here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you get it working.
First, you’ll need access to another computer. Download the free file utility called 7-Zip from their official website. Make sure to choose the version compatible with your system, typically the 64-bit version if you’re unsure.
Next, get the latest Wi-Fi driver for the RTL8852AE. You can find it on HP’s support site or through their driver download page. Just look for the file named “sp171538.exe” – this is the most current driver.
Once you’ve downloaded the driver and installed 7-Zip, right-click on the driver file. From the context menu, select “7-Zip” and then choose “Extract to” and let it extract into a folder named “sp171538.”
After extraction, insert a USB flash drive into your computer and copy the entire “sp171538” folder onto it. This will make it easy to transfer the driver to your notebook.
Now, with your USB ready, go to your notebook. When Windows prompts you to install a Wi-Fi driver, browse to the folder you just copied. You’ll need to navigate to the path: sp171538 > src > Drivers > RTWLANE_Driver > Win10X64. Look for a file called “netrtwlane6.inf” and select it to start the installation.
Follow the prompts, and Windows should successfully install the driver. Once installed, your Wi-Fi should be up and running. This method makes it simple to manually install the driver you need without relying on automatic updates.
